Your privacy is important to us. We do not share your contact information with others.

INFORMATION USE – LOG FILES:

Like most standard website servers, we use log files. This includes Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, referring/exit pages, platform type, and date/time stamp to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc., are not linked to personally identifiable information.

SILKROAD EMAILS:

If a user wishes to subscribe to Silkroad emails, we ask for contact information such as name and email address. We may ask for the country so that we can get an idea of our global reach. User who no longer wish to receive our newsletters may opt out of receiving these communications by selecting “opt out” from the bottom of any Silkroad email or by sending an email to hello@silkroad.org with “unsubscribe email newsletter” in the subject line.

SHARING – LEGAL DISCLAIMER:

We make every effort to preserve user privacy. The Silk Road Project, Inc. (SRPI, aka Silkroad) will not share the personal information you provide on our website with any other parties, except (a) with your consent, (b) as may be permitted or required by law or court order, (c) to persons or companies with whom SRPI contracts to carry out the operations of the site or our business, or (d) under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety or property of our users, the public, or ourselves.

AGGREGATE INFORMATION (NON-PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE):

We share aggregated demographic information with our partners. For example, we might share information on the number of page views our site receives with an entity with which we are working. This is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that The Silk Road Project, Inc., is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by the Silkroad website.

SECURITY:


This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, their information is protected both online and off-line.

We do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, the employees responsible for sending out the newsletters to the subscribers) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Furthermore, all employees are kept up to date on our security and privacy practices. Every year, as well as any time new policies are added, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy and what they can do to ensure our users’ information is protected. Finally, the servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment, in a locked facility.

CORRECTING/UPDATING/DELETING/DEACTIVATING PERSONAL INFORMATION:

If a user’s personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone, email or postal address), or if a user no longer desires to receive our newsletters, we provide a way to correct, update, or delete/deactivate users’ personally identifiable information. Corrections and updates can be made by clicking “manage preferences” within any Silkroad email or by sending an email to hello@silkroad.org with the new contact information. Users who no longer wish to receive our emails may opt out of receiving these communications by clicking “opt out” at the bottom of any Silkroad email or by sending an email to hello@silkroad.org with “unsubscribe email newsletter” in the subject line.

NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES:

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
